Bespoke painting commissions and specialist design projects are welcomed and indeed particularly suited to Larkin's unique talent...

Whether it's the turquoise glow of an Italian Lagoon, a photograph of a memorable sunset or an abstract composition, I can produce powerful, evocative translations of yours ideas in paint or sculpture.

I have had plenty experience of the commissioning process and have successfully produced work tailored to both the private and corporate environment. I can produce innovative, original proposals for a scheme of artwork or a single piece from scratch - or to a specific brief - on time and, of course, always to budget.

I believe that the images with which we choose to surround ourselves do make a home, or workspace, truly unique. In addition, I understand that every image commissioned is as valued and important as anything on a gallery wall. Recognising this, I try to work in a way that is flexible; whether in terms of scale, colour scheme, framing or final presentation - yet without sacrificing any of it's energy.

The Windswept Tree sculpture
Sculpture by Jen Larkin - The Windswept Tree
The Windswept Tree is a highly complex solid brass casting plated in silver. Numerous small sections of cast windswept heather were carefully brazed together in order to create the final form.
The brass sections were made using an innovative casting process. The molten brass bums away the windswept heather sections encased within plaster at extremely high temperatures and under pressure in order to achieve the highest level of detail. Even the tiniest leaves are visible. The organic matter to be cast was carefully chosen from locations around Trevose Head, Nr Padstow and Zennor, Nr St Ives.

The cast sculpture was drilled and bolted into a stained, lacquered and shaped base section of wood burr, originally a gnarled outgrowth of wood upon a tree.

Finally, the dedication plaque and station badge were engraved onto milled and anodised brushed metal. The shape of the plaque carefully follows the natural contour of the polished wood cross-section. The total effect achieved is that of rhythm and airflow over a wild landscape and curved branches - the elements in play - to express both fragility and force.
