Jen Larkin works from her studio in beautiful Cornwall, in the countryside close to the North Coast. She walks everyday and takes a sketchbook, camera and a keen eye to places near and far - sometimes camping en-route during extended walks with her husband John, a survival instructor. Recent inspiration for her paintings includes a journey along

the South West Coast Path from Padstow to The Lizard and also a 190 mile "Coast to Coast" walk.
Walking is at the core of her art practice and the rhythms of each of her journeys inspire her to paint, to capture something of the experience.

"The changing qualities of light upon the landscape, or in the skies above, fuel a passion for colour and atmosphere. The interfaces between land, water and sky form the crux of her compositions. Indeed, there is a palpable energy to her paintings, derived from a tightly coiled compositional and metaphysical tension. This gives her paintings a unique quality - they are more than simply a 'pleasing prospect' - catapulting the viewer towards their own moment in time, light and memory."
